Expanding the skills of our divers

Expanding the skills of our divers

Divers from the 5th Special Forces Regiment tested their physical and mental abilities at the Z MAK training base in Greece and exchanged diving skills and experience with their Greek colleagues.

The emphasis of the exercise was to improve diving procedures with closed circuits. This special form of diving is mentally and physically demanding in maintaining neutral buoyancy at a specified depth so as not to increase partial pressure and oxygen poisoning. A safe dive was provided by a guide rope which divers had to tie up to on each dive. The diving itself was preceded by dry training in tethering, crisis management and underwater orientation. During each dive, a group of safety divers was present, ready to immediately carry out the rescue operations. The final exercise was conducted by a mixed team of Slovak and Greek divers.
